Fire Service / Combined Service Meter Schematics

Option A - Separate meter & backflow protection device

above ground structure: main - meter - backflow - building

Option B - Separate meter & backflow protection devices (internal valves)

building's fire and domestic backflows feeds into separate valve inside building to meter (in pit, vault or above ground structure) to main

Option C - Separate meter & backflow protection devices (external valves)

building's fire and domestic backflows feeds into separate valve outside building to meter (in pit, vault or above ground structure) to main

Option D - Combined Service - Combination Meter

inside building, fire and domestic backflows feeds into meter, through valve to main line

Option E - Combined Service - Non-combination Meter

inside building, fire backflow (detector/radio meter) feeds into valve, Domestic backflow through meter then valve, tees into second valve then to main line

Option F - Combined Service - Non-combination Meter

inside building, fire backflow (detector/radio meter) feeds to outside valve to main. Domestic backflow through meter then inside valve, then outside valve, then tees into main line
