MVWA Crews Working to Repair Main Break

Boil Water Advisory Issued for Parts of New Hartford and Frankfort

10:00 P.M. 12/24/09 : Water has been restored to the affected service areas. A BOIL WATER ADVISORY remains in effect.

1:30 P.M. 12/24/09 :  Mohawk Valley Water Authority maintenance crews are working to repair a water main break which occurred in a ravine in the Town of New Hartford.  Because of the location and complexity of the repair, the earliest estimated time that water service may be restored is 10pm 12/24/09.  This is only an estimate. Once service is restored, the following areas in the Town of New Hartford and Town of Frankfort will be under a BOIL WATER ADVISORY:

Graffenburg Road (From house # 1354 to end of main towards Frankfort)

Harts Drive

Hays Road

Salisbury Drive

Sherman Drive (House # 1710  until Sherman Circle)        

Taber Road (East of Tilden Ave)

Taber Lane

A boil water advisory will be in effect in the affected area for 48 hours, or until tests show the water is free from contamination. During this time, customers are advised to boil their water for at least two minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. Customers are also advised against using any water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water, since such usage will draw the water into the hot water tank, and customers will have to flush the tank once clear water becomes available. Customers should also avoid washing their clothes in discolored water, since it may contain sediments that could permanently stain their laundry.  

9:15 A.M 12/24/09 : We are currently experiencing a water main break in the New Hartford area between Graffenburg Rd. and Sherman Dr.  Due to the location of the break, the estimated time of repair could be 10 hours or later this evening.  Due to the nature of the break; a boil water advisory will likely be issued.
