Capital Projects Committee – Report

Capital Projects Committee:

 

A Capital Projects Committee meeting is scheduled for July 12, 2007 at Noon.  Tentative agenda items include:

 

•         IDSE Contract Increase, Phase 2 Hydraulic Model Contract Decrease.

•         In-Line Hydro Generation Study.  NYSERDA Grant MVWA Funding Share.

•         Construction Engineering Submittal Review Authorization for WTP Clearwell & Deerfield Tank.

 

Capital Projects Update:

 

In general, construction activities have accelerated on both major Tank projects and the Engineering Department staff and consultants are closely monitoring the progress on these and other projects noted below:

 

Holland Patent Water Mains:  The project will connect the new main in Powell Road installed by MVWA to the tank.  The Work was scheduled for the week of June 25th however the NYSDOT permit to cross Route 365 has been delayed pending a decision on the crossing method.

 

Deerfield Tank Design (See Photos):  Three (3) major construction contracts are underway. Tank construction has started with floor now poured and dome falsework being erected.  Wall casting underway. 

 

WTP Clearwell:  Blasting of 13,000 tons of rock is complete.  Casting bed have been prepared.  Contractor is installing connecting 48” diameter piping to the tank foundation area.

 

Canal Crossing – MVWA is beginning design of replacement of transmission main valves on south side of NYS Canal in Marcy.  The actual work may be accomplished by a combination of MVWA & contract forces and will occur in November after canal levels have been lowered.

           

Marcy Reservoir Tank & Toby Road Tanks:  Part 1, Environmental Assessment Form (EAF) has been issued to Involved & Interested Agency comments. Some comments have been received.  Site survey is nearly complete.  Purchase offer for Toby Road Tank Land, 24 Acres, has been forwarded to owner’s attorney. 

 

 Initial Distribution System Evaluation (IDSE):  Hydraulic Model team beginning work and GIS/mapping updates are nearing completion.  MVWA staff is providing key system data on pumps, valves, tanks, etc. for model input.

 

Smith Hill Tank:  Site survey has been completed, base mapping in preparation.
